The historic Forest Park neighborhood begins at the far side of the Highland Park Golf Course with beautiful homes that line the mountainside and wind around Clairmont Avenue to Crestwood. Forest Park Village is one of the city's best-kept secrets with bars like Juniper and restaurants such as Red or White and Rougaroux.


Avondale Park marks the turn from Forest Park into the Avondale neighborhood. The 100+-year-old park was the location of the first zoo in Birmingham and one feisty resident - a former circus elephant named Miss Fancy - who is said to have had a vivacious personality and a taste for the occasional sip of liquor. Known as the Queen of Avondale, her panache continues to embody the spirit of this neighborhood to this day. The park was completely renovated in 2011 and the neighborhood was quick to follow with the introduction of Avondale Brewery that same year. Today, Avondale is a vibrant part of the city full of live music, diverse restaurant offerings, and local businesses.

    Avondale prides itself on its quality breweries, food scene, and bars. The area was revitalized in the early 2000s, but it keeps its historic roots as an affordable and friendly neighborhood. Downtown Avondale features several concert venues such as Saturn and Avondale Brewing. A short drive away is  Bruto, Mom's Basement, Seasick Records, and Cahaba Brewing. 


    Forest Park, is also a historic neighborhood with large manor homes, boutique restaurants, and . The area is very walkable and is often encouraged for locals so they can experience the slower pace. Forest Park Village has fantastic restaurants such as Red or White and The Rougaroux. The neighborhood also features small stores that are worth a stop in such as Shoppe, General, and Mk Quinlan
